Blue Cheese & Bacon Cole Slaw

We are traditionalists at heart when it comes to holiday food.  We always have the staples of hot dogs, chips and BBQ (insert name of whatever meat we want that year).  I mean, who can resist the smell of BBQ wafting thru the air while the kids are running around tooting air horns and popping those obnoxious party poppers?

We do love to play around with what kind of sides we serve.  I found an old recipe that we loved and had forgotten about from Ralph's grocery store.  This is not your average cole slaw!  You'll be the hit of any party if you serve this cool, tangy and salty concoction.

No picture yet...but I will update after 4th of July with some for you!

Blue Cheese & Bacon Cole Slaw

  • 1 medium cabbage, chopped
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 4 oz. blue cheese - crumbled
  • 2 Tbsp horseradish (use less if you don't like it too spicy)
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 2 red bell pepper (or green if you like)
  • 4 green onions, chopped
  • 6-8 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
Mix all ingredients together, except bacon.  Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, and mix in bacon just when you are ready to serve!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!

Get Your Key To The Disney Store!

Looking for something to do with your kiddos during these sweltering summer days, but need a break from the in-the-sun activities?

Summer is a great time to go to the Disney Store a special treat.  If your child is first to get to the store before it opens, they will be treated as royalty as they use the special jumbo Disney key that opens the store and their imagination.

The staff will have a special lockbox, key and celebration as your child opens the door.  As a keepsake, your child gets to keep a miniature version of the key to take home.
Thanks to Grandmom, my youngest finally was able to get hers today.  Summer is a slow time at the mall, so you have an excellent chance if you get there just 10 minutes before opening.
Now that all of our kids have a special key, we will keep them with our Christmas decorations and use them on our tree as special momentos of a memorable magic day.

Your child can unlock the Disney magic anyday!
